Review of The Last Mandarin by Louise Penny and Melissa Fung

  This was my very first book from Hachette India as a reviewer and I was really excited to dive in it. And the book did justice to my excitement! Louise Penny and Melissa Fung’s The Last Mandarin is a gripping international political thriller. The book is an absolute page turner and the plot twists will keep you guessing till the end. The story follows Alice Li, a food blogger who receives a photograph from a friend just before alarms go off all over the world. Her friend is killed under mysterious circumstances. But he left her some clues to follow. When she starts doing that, she discovers how her mother Vivien Li, a Chinese dissident is also at the thick of it. It becomes clear that something is challenging the world order and it is powerful enough to destabilise it. When the alarms is followed by stuck and free falling elevators and then another catastrophe, death count mounts tremendously. What is staring at the faces of the world leaders is an attack bigger than anythin...
